Who we are:

The Church of the Epiphany is a small, urban Episcopal congregation whose people come from all walks of life. Characteristic of small congregations, there is a deep and sincere concern among our members for each other. We care about each other very deeply. Being a part of Epiphany really is being part of a family.

Our building is located at 1530  Lafayette Blvd., in the geographic center of the City of Norfolk, Virginia. The Church was built in 1920, and is a "period piece" with interior exposed brick walls and massive ceiling beams. Beautiful stained glass windows, and a pipe organ contribute greatly to the aesthetics of the space. It is heated, air-conditioned, and handicapped accessible. Many of the furnishings and appointments were rescued from a fire that destroyed St. Luke's Church in 1921. Fire damage can still be seen on many of the pews. The Parish House was built in 1954 and has recently been extensivly renovated.

The Rev. Richard O. Bridgford serves as Rector. The parish offers a full range of programs, including a growing Christian Education Program for both children and adults, a choir and an ECW. Epiphany hosts 6 Girl Scout troops.

Epiphany enjoys Eucharistically centered worship, using the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. Our worship, including our music, is a blend of both old and new. Although the Episcopal rites tend to be somewhat formal, special effort is made to assure that the services are relaxed and comfortable to visitors.

Epiphany offers wonderful opportunities for the personal involvement of new members. Every phase of the ministry of the parish is open to new participants and new ideas.

Service Schedule:

Our Sunday Worship Schedule is as follows:

Holy Eucharist: 8:00  a.m.
Children's and Adult Education: 9:45 a.m.
Holy Eucharist: 11:00  a.m.

In addition a Wednesday Morning Eucharist is held at 10:30 a.m.and on special feast days — as announced.

All baptized persons who are in good standing with their own church are welcome to receive communion at Epiphany. We encourage friends and visitors to take full part in our worship services.
